Self

To peer inside, and truly find, knowing self

fear and doubt reconciled - burden lightened

Daring more, just imagine… a compass found!

Such insight; horizon unframed - wisdom gifted

But alas, we barrenly fossick, stumble and fall

Fecundity eludes - just worn tracks and heavy hearts

Uncomposed, we scamper behind numbing walls

Bereft of agency; blinkered horse pulling cart

To entertain such grim prospect; weakens soul, and

beckons retreat; a desire to reclaim infantile nurture

Unconditional love - a plausible defence to wield?

I fear not, as knowing now thin - myself only to hold…
