Wish
If granted just a single wish...
...doubt or consternation would not ensue. Mind would waver not.
Iron clad would be my undertaking, resounding my conviction.
So sweet the imagining - such a benefaction would render us whole.
The instant amelioration of all slights, unkind remarks, and neglect.
Travesties undeserving bestowed - for reasons that still elude.
Oh, what would willingly be forgone if such exchange was within my realm.
Even Faustian pact would not bedevil I – the worth of such a gift would…
…more than treble, any cost imposed on the ledger - of this I am certain.
But fabled prize or enchanted fate, alas, resides not in my imposed lot.
For only self, much enlightened and true, may return grace whatever cost.
And in my heart deepest, I know paths crossed, are forever lost.
