Renewal

Spirit tempered by impenetrable shadow;

nebulous block, so steadfast in trail.

Heavy - dismissive of play and whimsy,

dutifully denying illumination of hope.

But… a child’s compass always knows north,

block persistently examined; denied no more.

slowly reimagined as hull, not cruel anchor;

tended vessel seaworthy - perhaps?

Harbour moored as lean seasons pass

adventures forgone, somehow watertight.

Warm, spring breeze caresses. Suddenly…

sails billow, line cast - with resurgent Faith.
